| The mellow but disciplined vibes emanating from this group show are in part attributable to its theme. All the work was inspired by the artists' experience of meditation... Alex Grey's distinctive figure painting emerged from a combined use of psychedelic drugs and meditation. The "Meditative" show has a single example of recent work, but the cosmological vision he has been developing over the past several years can be seen to its fullest effect in his "Chapel of Sacred Mirrors," a long-term exhibition of paintings and sculptures installed at 540 West 27th Street in Chelsea.
